The town of Monroy as we know it today was constructed in the 16th century as was
known as the Senorio de Monroy. The tower of the castle catches your attention as
you approach the village. The castle was constructed in 13 29 The church dedicated
to Santa Catalina was finished also in the 16th century.
Monroy is famous for the Villa Romana, a roman village that has great historical
significance in Extremadura. It is located between two hills separated by a small
stream. The villa romana cover 5 hectors.
For all Nature Lovers it is a place that shouldn’t be missed. It is not only has its
own nature reserve the Cabril famous for its raptors and black storks but it is also
near the large national park Monfragüe.
